Hello. My name is Garry. My education is in engineering and I have been working for oil and gas companies for more than 20 years in Calgary, and now work for Penn West Energy in the reservoir engineering group and specialize in waterfloods. My birth place was Victoria B.C., and I have lived in Canada all my life. I am a volunteer English teacher and teach a conversation club for immigrants every week, but I also enjoy helping these people with their resumes and job search. In March 2008 I took the Oxford ESL Teaching course at the University of Calgary and received a teaching certificate. I enjoy driving my car, going to the mountains for hiking, fishing and swimming, watching the Calgary Flames Hockey games because I have season tickets, and also enjoy going to see live music concerts and going to movies. I own my house and live upstairs by myself but I rent both of my basement bedrooms to students, and I keep a very clean and safe house for them. Right now I have a 22 year old Korean girl, and a 17 year old girl from China going to high school here in Calgary. I cook for the Chinese girl because it is a homestay, but the Korean girl cooks her own meals. Several times the students and myself all go together to a movie, or shopping for groceries or to the mountains for hiking. I am just over 6 feet tall, have brown hair and blue eyes, weigh (195 lbs) 88 kg. and I always eat very healthy food and go to the gym 2-3 times per week. Travelling is a favorite with me also and so far I have been to Europe two times, and also to China two times. I am very kind and generous and a good citizen with no criminal record, never do drugs, but I sometimes have a beer or some wine. |
